No, this isn’t a fashion post…this is
something for your mind to ruminate upon.
“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” must be
the world’s most over used idiom, yet the same people who say it - as well as
those who don’t – are the ones assigning themselves the position of Justice where none is necessary. Because someone looks a certain way it doesn’t always
mean they are just as they appear.
Here’s a scenario, you’re positioned at a
distance and you see a young black male wearing a black bomber jacket, black
tracksuit bottoms, all-black Nike trainers and a black head warmer approach a
frail looking old woman across the street. You hurry towards the seemingly
about-to-be emergency situation only to see him assist the elderly woman
with her bags, all the while engaging in friendly conversation with her.
How do you feel? Your conception was
absolutely wrong and you’ve wasted your time and energy all because of an
unnecessary judgment. You could have gotten a chocolate in that time or
something haha.
On a serious note; take a minute to think before
you pass judgments, even the mental ones.
