THE STOLEN TEARS

Lions and Liars
On these boulevards of misery
Fighting for the soul
I look around with pity

They lied to us,
They promised safety.
We ran down the halls,
While they shouted "hurry"

We felt the midnight breeze,
It blew so hard we sneezed.
Whisked away in the trucks
Oh! I thought we'd found some luck.

It took only a day
To realize this misfortune,
I cried out of fear,
I wished my parents could hear

Hauwa's heart, heavy with sorrow
Zainab's hope dashed for tomorrow,
I let my stolen tears fall,
Stolen cos I had no peace at all

I prayed silently,
With my heavy eyes,
For hopefully, heaven could
Hear my cries.

Home was where I belong
I said to myself,
Take me back there,
This ill, too hard to bear,
For as many that care,
I've shed my stolen tears.
