Inspiration.

Hello hello!

Some of you lovely readers may know that I’m studying to be a medical doctor. Now, if there’s anything you need to have even an iota of motivation to go through with this course, or anything in life - it’s inspiration.

Inspiration is what makes up the bedrock of why you do something; why you aspire to be someone and what you remind yourself of when the going gets tough.

Inspiration births motivation.

So as not to always write abstractly and to ensure my point is put across adequately, let me give an example of how I got my inspiration to go through with this challenging course. My father has been a doctor long before I was born and during my early childhood he specialized in pediatrics, which is the care of children. I was an asthmatic patient at the time and sometimes I had episodes that pushed me over to the brink of life; but each time he combatted it and drew me back into safety. I grew to admire him for the numerous life and death scenarios he battled both at home and at work, being faced with such circumstances on a regular basis is enough to break a person down, but he always pushed through.

What led me to remember this was my first up-close labor room experience; I was the very first person that my patient’s child saw in it’s life, and although the process to deliver the child was no simple task, that brief moment, when I locked eyes with the child, was magical. I was re-inspired.

So this post is all about inspiring you to get inspiration; it keeps the passion burning for whatever it is you’ve set your mind to do.

Best of Luck xo

Everything Happens For A Reason.

This is the first time I'm using a phrase as a title for my blogpost but honestly it's the best way to express how I feel right now.

Sometimes life seems to be falling apart like a Nature Valley granola bar but, just like that bar, it all works out in the end. In the case of the bar, it gets digested and you get the necessary nutrients from it, and in life - the purpose of the tough situation eventually surfaces and it all works out.

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" is a beautiful bible scripture that explains the ups and downs in life beautifully. Sometimes you may feel so beaten down you'll think you don't even have the bones to get back up on your feet, I'm here to tell you that no matter how hard a situation may seem, so long as you're still alive, there's still hope.

The same boiling water that softens yam will harden an egg - its not about the circumstance but it's about what you're made up of. You can decide to let the situation you're in break or make you.

It's all up to you.

Trying Times

Boy oh boy, the situation that I am going through right now in my life...

People always say there is light at the end of the tunnel but they never say how long or how dark that tunnel will seem. They never say how bleak your situation will feel when you're trudging through the train tracks in the tunnel, one hurdle after another and it feels like an endless battle.

Which is why I chose to focus on my problem-solver rather than the problem itself.

It's when a situation seems impossible, unbearable and completely out of your control that God gets the chance to waltz right in and show Himself in full glory.
It's when the need for His intervention is dire that He can manifest miracles in ways you could never have imagined.

There's a test in every testimony. Don't let the test distract you from the success story around the corner.

CHIN UP!

Change.

“The only thing that’s constant in life: Change.”

Changes in surroundings, friends, relationships…inevitable stuff. Isn’t it weird when someone is afraid of change? Before you open your mouth to say yes think about all the people that have been ridiculed or persecuted for “change”: Rosa Parks on that bus all those years ago is a great example – now we see her as a hero in the Black History story but back then I’m sure there were fellow coloured people who turned away and pulled an “unlooking” as she faced maltreatment.

Why?

Because change can be frightening. Change is mold breaking. Anything that breaks generally causes pain during the process, which, many would rather not experience.

Accede change. Try to be a better person than you were yesterday or even just an hour ago!

On that note, I would like to wish you a successful new year; I hope you remember this post as you make your New Year Plans and Resolutions J

Expectations.

Hey, hello there J

Ever felt like everyone’s looking at you? Sometimes they really are, like when you drive on the wrong side of the road in a foreign country, but other times, it could be a great exaggeration on your part.

Being the first born in my household, I’m no stranger to high expectations. I’m like my parents' lab rat: “let’s take her for after school classes” “let’s make her take her GCSEs early” “let’s send her to Nigeria for secondary school” – boy have I had an interesting life – but that’s a story for another day haha.

I could easily have crumbled under all the pressure to do well, but thankfully I didn’t – and you shouldn’t either. Use the pressure to pump the tires of your life’s vehicle and press on. Do not do things based on what others will say but rather because of what you aim to achieve when you succeed.

Think of how you’ll feel when you cross that finish line then keep at it – you may have people cheering and others booing but only you can push yourself to complete your race. Make your own realistic expectations and accomplish them – you’ll be glad you did it J
